A surgeon and four other people are on trial in central China over a teenager who is said to have sold a kidney so he could purchase an iPhone and iPad. The state-run China Daily newspaper said Wang Shangkun, 18, was in a serious condition after an illegal transplant operation last year.

The five people on trial in the city of Chenzhou,Hunan province, are accused of intentional injury and illegal organ trading. The kidney was sold for 150,000 yuan (£15,000) but the teenage boy only received 22,000 yuan, the paper reported.

(He must of wanted them pretty bad, SAD but TRUE!)

                

MAN PUTS 'HOT' IN 'HOT PANTS.'

        'Hot Pants start fire in apartment'

A man accidentally set fire to his flat when he tried to dry his underpants and socks in a microwave oven.

    Firefighters were called to the blaze after concerned neighbours hared a fire alarm ringing.

    Residents from the apartment block in Weymouth,Dorset,England,led the man to safety from the 2nd floor after the fire started.

    The flames were quickly extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, because of the smoke , not the smell of the pants! A spokesman said " The fire involved 2 pairs of pants and 2 pairs of socks which he had tried to dry in the microwave.

( Perhaps he had a hot date and was in a rush !)

     The spokesman added " All items of clothing were destroyed and there was slight smoke damage to the apartment.

      " He also added that you should never put clothing of any kind in the microwave to attempt to dry them"

( I'm sure the owner of the apartment had another set of pants about his person that could do with washing and drying after this !)

ONE of Italy's most wanted Mafia bosses has been captured in Calabria after police used a pneumatic drill to dig into the basement of his Mother's home,where he was hiding.
Aquino 50, had been on the run for two years, after he was given a 3 and a half year prison sentence during an operation against his organisation, the 'Ndrangheta.
A Police Investigative unit used telephone taps to trace Aquino who was running his clan's drug-trafficking operations and other business. According to local Police this demonstrates that fugitives remain in there own area and cannot move far because they risk losing their leadership.
The bunker could only be reached via an electronically controlled trapdoor, so police drilled through the floor to arrest him. Aquino's nickname is " u pacciu ",meaning "the crazy one ", he was unarmed and in true Goodfella's style shook hands with the officer in charge, and complimented him on his work.
His capture is a breakthrough for the police who arrested his older brother and right hand man, Rocco, (the ' Colonel ' ) in Febuary, he was found by police running his buisness in the ceiling of his own home , in the same town. Apparently both brothers were said to be big players in cocaine trafficking.
Aquino's hiding place is the latest in a string of imaginative hiding places used by Mafia bosses.
In April a boss from Naples was arrested after he was discovered hiding in a refuge behind a mirrored wardrobe in his home. ( God , they must love D.I.Y. ) 
Three years ago police arrested another Mafia boss who was holed-up in a underground bunker equipped with a skateboard which he planned to use through a 200 yard tunnel to evade capture.
Giuseppe Setola a hitman, evaded arrest during a police raid on his home North of Naples when he fled down a tunnel linked to the sewage system beneath his hideout.

1948 LONDON OLYMPICS ' DECATHLON'

AMERICAN BOB MATHIAS WINS GOLD!

Day 8 of the 1948 London Olympics has gone down in Olympic history as one of the most extraordinary days.

The weather was appalling,an absurdly late finish for the age under the light of arc lamps.

The couple of hundred die-hard spectators who stayed until 10.30pm at Wembley saw Bob Mathias, a 17 year old from California,take second place in the decathalon 1,500m and win the gold medal.

Just two weeks previously he had been a high school student who had never taken part in a full scale decathlon and he also had to battle anaemia.

Mathias obviously had a great talent that could do with some , well lots of fine tuning, he had nearly failed in the shot put because he did not know the rules and almost failed the high jump too. This was the second day of the two day decathlon competition that lasted 12 hours, this prompted farcical scenes as the skies grew even darker. Before the javelin, the penultimate event, cars were driven into Wembley stadium and their headlights turned on to illuminate the foul line.

After the1,500m, Mathias all but collapsed but had still done enough to become the youngest Olympics track and field winner. Asked how he plannened to celebrate he replied: "I'll start shaving, I guess." The next day he had to be woken because he nearly slept through the victory celebrations.

Mathias defended his title in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and retired from sport.
He had a brief acting career in the late 50s. In the mid 60s he moved in to politics as a Republican in California, in 1975 Mathias was apparently swept aside in the wake of the Watergate scandal.
Mathias was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and passed away in 1996 aged 75.

           Congratulation's Jessica !!!

     What an absolute pleasure it was to witness Jesssica winning the Gold Medal.
     Nobody deserves it more, after missing the last Olympic's through injury and the hard work she has put in to achieve this.

  
      Jessica has always come across as a very down to earth person who appreciates the gift she has been given as a athlete.

      While most Olympians adhere to the strictest dietary regimes, Jessica allows herself the odd indulgence. She admits to a sweet tooth and often after dinner has a piece of chocolate , cake or a sponge pudding. She is also partial to a glass of wine or two.
      She is due to marry her long-time boyfriend Andy Hill, who brought her a sizable Diamond engagement ring, which she only removes during the long jump as she does not want sand grains getting in it.

      I wish her continued success in the future !


      I hope she celebrates with more than two glasses of wine tonight..................She deserves it.....

      

Legionnaires Disease Outbreak..Update !!!

      The recent outbreak of Legionnaires Disease in Stoke-on-Trent which claimed 1 life, and hospitalized 17 others has had the source identified.

         The Health Protection agency revealed that shoppers are thought too have contracted the disease after visiting JTF Mega Discount Warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent. The store had switched on a Hot Tub for display purposes , the vapour's contained the Legionnella bacteria, 17 of the 18 patients had visited the shop two weeks beforehand.

           " Be careful out there folks ! "

NAZIS' EXPLODING CHOCOLATE 'FOILED!'

                  Churchill Assassination Plot Foiled !
     The Nazis plotted to kill Sir Winston Chuchill with a bar of chocolate , a wartime letter has revealed.


          Adolf Hitler's bomb makers coated explosive devices with a thin layer of dark chocolate, then packaged them in expensive-looking black and gold paper.They apparently planned to use secret agents to place the bars, branded as Peter's Chocolate, among items taken into the room used by the war Cabinet for meetings.These bar's of chocolate had enough explosives to kill anyone within a few yards.

        The plot was foiled by British was foiled by British spies who discovered the the chocolate was being made and tipped off the MI5's most senior intelligence chief, Victor Rothschild.

        Lord Rothschild, a member of the banking family, typed a letter to an illustrator seconded to his unit, asking him to draw-poster size images of the chocolate to warn the public to be on the lookout for it. The letter to the artist Laurence Fish , dated May 4, 1943, was unearthed by Mr Fish's wife Jean Bray, as she went through her late Husband's possessions after his death in 2009, aged 89.

        The letter revealed how the mechanism would be activated when a piece of chocolate was broken away, which would reveal a piece of canvas running through the centre of the bar. Lord Rothschild enclosed a 'very poor diagram' by someone who had seen one of the bars. Apparently seven seconds after a  piece of chocolate and attached canvas were pulled out , the explosive would be detonated. 

       The letter was written to Mr Fish by Lord Rothschild from his secret bunker in Parliament Square in Central London.
       Fish went on to design poster's for 'Dunlop' and 'BP'.


      As a matter of fact , Churchill himself did not eat chocolate . Amongst other items that Rothschild was asked to investigate were suspicious cigars sent to the prime minister, and used his Zoologist's dissecting skills on a bomb hidden in a cargo of Spanish onions,  for which Churchill recommended him for a George medal.
